Upon your initial visit, you will fill out your registration forms so the office team can get to know you better.
It is a good idea to arrive a few minutes early for this appointment. You can also download registration or health history forms here.
Your dental hygienist will review your medical and dental history, and you will have the opportunity to share with her your reasons for being here, your dental and health concerns, and your desires for your mouth. We will then take a series of radiographs using the latest digital technology, which uses 65% less radiation than a traditional X-ray. These are important and necessary to properly diagnose and treat all patients. Dr. Schick can document your past dental history and determine your current oral health from these radiographs, photographs, and a comprehensive exam.
Upon completing the necessary radiographs, your dental hygienist will gather information to assist Dr. Schick in completing his mouth examination. We will take a series of extraoral photographs of your mouth. Dr. Schick will palpate your neck and face, assess for any abnormalities, and perform an oral cancer screening. He will completely chart existing conditions in your mouth, including previously restored or extracted teeth, and perform periodontal charting to help determine the health of your gums and bone support. He will discuss treatment needs with you and show videos to help explain possible problems, reasons for treatment, and treatment options.
